What Supplier Diversity Is
At Pfizer, Supplier Diversity is a strategic business process aimed at providing companies owned by minorities and women an equal opportunity to become suppliers to Pfizer. This process is rooted in our recognition that we, as a responsible corporate citizen, should purchase our goods and services from a diverse base of suppliers just as we ask a diverse group of consumers to purchase our finished products.

What Supplier Diversity Is Not
Our Supplier Diversity effort is neither a social program nor a promise that participating companies will secure business from Pfizer. It is also not a compromise on the quality, cost or service requirements we ask of every supplier. Supplier Diversity at Pfizer is not a guarantee; it's an opportunity.

Mission
Our mission is to implement Supplier Diversity across the company in a way that contributes measurably to Pfizer's market share, to overall shareholder value and to the quality of life in the communities where we live and work.

Objective
Our objective is to develop a supply base that reflects the demographic diversity of the consumer marketplace.

Definitions


Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
An MBE is a for-profit enterprise, regardless of size, physically located in the United States or its trust territories and owned, operated and controlled by minority group members. "Minority group members" are United States citizens who are African-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asian-Pacific Americans and Asian-Indian Americans. Ownership by minority individuals means the business must be at least 51 percent owned by minority group members. Furthermore, the management and daily business operations are controlled by those minority group members.

Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE)
A WBE is a for-profit enterprise, regardless of size, physically located in the United States or its trust territories and owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women. Ownership by women means the business must be at least 51 percent owned by a woman or women, who control the management and daily operations of the business.
